If you haven’t pre-booked online, there are plenty of Car Hire companies at Málaga airport. Avis, Hertz, and Eurocar are there as well as others.

If you are travelling to Antequera by public transport, but might want to hire a car once in Antequera, Rentikar are a recommended company, based centrally. By Train
There is a good service from Malaga Maria Zambrano train station, using the high speed AVE train (Alta Velocidad Espanola). This is located opposite the bus station. From the airport you can either use the bus, or take the local train from the station located opposite the arrivals exit.
If travelling from Málaga it is important to note that the train stops at Antequera Santa Ana station, which is 17 kilometers away from Antequera. You then take a taxi (there are usually plenty) to your destination in the city.
However, if you book your ticket to Antequera central, the RENFE train company will usually lay on a free bus to the currently disused train station in Antequera itself.
A modern, more substantial new station is currently in construction behind the old station, in Antequera, to facilitate the AVE link from Algeciras to Granada, which will enable a a journey from Malaga to Antequera more centrally, with a change at Santa Ana.

By Bus
Antequera – Malaga / Malaga – Antequera
From Malaga Airport there is a regular service, stopping opposite the arrivals exit, which takes you to Malaga Central Bus Station. From here there is a direct route to Antequera with the ALSA bus company. Buses from the airport are approximately every 30 minutes (journey time approximately 15 – 20 mins).

To Antequera the journey is around 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes depending on traffic in Malaga. There are one or two buses where the journey time is longer due to the route. It is a pleasantly scenic journey to Antequera.
At the time of writing the cost of the airport, the bus is 3 euros, and the bus to Antequera 5.61 euros.
There is a Taxi rank outside the bus station at Antequera, or the town centre is a 2 minute stroll away.
